Dhamma Sukha – New Center in Central Texas

CTVA is excited to announce the purchase of a property to build a new Vipassana Center near the small town of New Ulm, on 7819 Red Bird Road. This is a big step forward towards realizing Goenkaji’s vision of starting a center that will cater to the San Antonio, Austin, and Houston areas. The scenic and secluded new acreage is completely covered in old-growth pine, hardwood trees and underbrush. It lies at the end of a road and so has no through traffic, with only one active neighbor who breeds horses. The 31-acre property includes two temporary buildings located along the road that will be useful during the planning and construction of the center. The land is in a no flood zone and comes with an electrical connection and a water well. The property is centrally located, about 1.5 hours from Houston and Austin and 2.5 hours from San Antonio.

Construction plans are currently being developed. To be part of the project, contact us at info-houston@siri.dhamma.org. There are multiple opportunities for old students to volunteer their service.

Austin Dhamma House

We are very excited to announce that the Central Texas Vipassana Association (CTVA) recently identified and purchased a suitable site for the Dhamma House in Austin.

The Austin Dhamma House brings meditation and community building opportunities to the old-students in the Central Texas region. CTVA will soon organize more weekday, weekend and 1-Day Courses for Vipassana Meditators in Austin and adjoining areas. The Austin Dhamma House will also make it possible for CTVA to offer local non-residential Child/Teen Courses to children of meditators and non- meditators alike. The Austin Dhamma House will also have a reference library for old students and offer other public events for the benefit of the local non-student community.

The site is a conventional home that will be remodeled for use as a Dhamma House. It is centrally located in North Austin close to the intersection of I-35 and Braker Lane.

Please visit by Central Texas Vipassana Association website to read more about the Austin Dhamma House and local events. Old students can log in and learn about the local Group sittings, Dhamma service opportunities and view pictures of Dhamma House site.
